Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce, 20, died ‘under natural circumstances,’ coroner says
Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce’s cause of death has been revealed.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office announced Thursday that Boyce, 20, died of natural causes on July 6 after he was found unresponsive at his North Hollywood home.
“Preliminary information suggests the death occurred under natural circumstances,” the coroner’s office said in a news release. “The final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date.”
The preliminary findings come days after Boyce’s cause of death was deferred “pending additional investigation” following an autopsy performed on July 8.

Boyce’s family told ABC News – which is part of the Disney/ABC Television Group owned by the Walt Disney Company – that the actor succumbed to a seizure.
“He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated,” the family told ABC.
Boyce’s father described his son’s sudden death as a “nightmare I can’t wake up from.”
Victor Boyce took to Instagram on Wednesday to share one of the last pictures taken of the star, “just hours before he was snatched from our lives.”
“My son … I miss him terribly,” Victor captioned an image of a smirking Boyce. “I hope that no one ever has to feel the agony I’m feeling but no one is immune to tragedy.”

Boyce was known for his roles on the Disney Channel’s “Jessie,” in which he played one of four wealthy, rambunctious children under the care of a new nanny, and the “Descendants” franchise, as the son of Cruella De Vil.
His role as Carlos in the “Descendants” franchise has spanned multiple movies, shorts and a TV spinoff since 2015. “Descendants 3” is scheduled to premiere on the Disney Channel on Aug. 2, which the network announced will be dedicated to Boyce.
“We’re proud to be part of Cameron Boyce’s legacy by showcasing his talents on screen,” Disney said in a statement Thursday to USA TODAY. “With permission from the Boyce family, Disney Channel will dedicate the telecast of ‘Descendants 3’ in Cameron Boyce’s memory.”
The network added that the red carpet premiere, originally planned for July 22, will be canceled in exchange for a donation to the Thirst Project, an organization that Boyce championed to bring awareness to the global water crisis.
