Dow soars 900 points as stocks wipe out Christmas Eve plunge

Stocks extended gains ahead of the closing bell Wednesday, with the Dow jumping 900 points as major indexes took back all the losses seen in the worst Christmas Eve in Wall Street history. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +4.98% was up 941 points, or 4.3%, while the S&P 500 SPX, +4.96% surged 104 points, or 4.5%, to 2,457. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +5.84% jumped 5.2% to 6,509.
