Clariant sales, earnings up on organic growth
Clariant AG (CLN.EB) said Wednesday that its earnings and revenue rose in the second quarter, driven by organic growth across all business areas.
Second-quarter sales rose 9% to 1.67 billion Swiss francs ($1.68 billion) from CHF1.53 billion in the year-earlier period, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and exceptional items increased 10% on year to CHF256 million, from CHF232 million, Clariant said.
Sales for the quarter rose across all regions apart from the Middle East and Africa, where sales dropped 10% on year, Clariant said.
Net income for the first six months of the year rose to CHF211 million from CHF153 million a year earlier, the specialty chemical maker said.
Clariant confirmed its mid-term target of reaching a margin on Ebitda before exceptional items of between 16% and 19%.
