This week has seen most major cryptocurrencies decline in price, exposing just how volatile the market is.
Prices can drop dramatically over a very short period and there are no guarantee markets will bounce back quickly.
If you do choose to invest make sure you do your research and never put in more than you can afford to lose.
Here’s how three of the largest cryptocurrencies have performed this week.
Bitcoin
Bitcoin has declined in value over the past week following China declaring all cryptocurrency transactions illegal.
The price of bitcoin fall by 9.70 percent in the past seven days according to Coinbase.
But things could be looking up for this crypto, as its price increased by 2.04 percent in the last 24 hours.

This is 33.10 percent below the all-time high of £47,397.22.
Ethereum
Although bitcoin dominated the cryptomarket, Ethereum is another major digital currency.
Just like bitcoin, Ethereum also declined in value this week.
According to Coinbase, Ether fell by 11.55 percent over the past seven days.
But it has also mirrored bitcoin to rise slightly in price recently.
Ethereum has risen by 2.77 percent in the 24 hours.
This is a pretty typical pattern as changes in value to the market leader, bitcoin, are often mirrored in other cryptocurrencies.
Ethereum is currently trading at £2,201.27 per ETH which is 30.94 percent below its all-time high of £3,187.69.
Cardano
Cardano may be much lower in value than Ethereum and bitcoin, but it is still a big cryptocurrency.

Unlike Ethereum and bitcoin, this crypto hasn’t seen a recent rise in price.
