£1.50 cloths on sale for £5,000 on eBay – all thanks to one woman’s obsession

Anti-bacterial cloths are being listed on eBay for as much as £5,000 thanks to high demand caused by a cleaning-mad Instagram star.

Sophie Hinchcliffe, better known as Mrs Hinch on the social media platform, has made the item’s popularity soar after featuring it heavily on her Instagram account, which now has more than 880,000 subscribers.

The green anti-bacterial cleaning pads, manufactured by Minky, have been sold out for months after Mrs Hinch began singing their praises on her social media account.

They finally came back into stock yesterday but sold out again within minutes.

Unfortunately, some of the lucky shoppers who snapped them up are now exploiting the high demand for the product for their own gain.

Several listings on eBay show the cloths are being sold for around £40 or £50. But some are really trying their luck and attempting to cash in on Mrs Hinch’s popularity – by advertising them at £5,000.

They have previously been sold on the Asda website for just £1.50.

Surprisingly, the expensive listing is being viewed more than 100 times an hour.

Sophie – who has made no secret of the fact she "loves a barg[ain]" – warned people against paying more than the recommended price for the popular cloths in a video on her Instagram last night.

She said: "Hinchers do not pay silly money for Minkeh online! He’ll be back next week… normal price!

"Only a week to go!"

Minky has confirmed the cleaning pad will be back in stock next week so, until then, ‘Hinchers’ will have to make do with a regular cloth.

Mrs Hinch has gathered somewhat of a cult following, with hundreds of thousands using the hashtags #HinchArmy and #MrsHinchMadeMeDoIt.

T-shirts bearing the slogans have also been put on sale online.

She rapidly amassed followers after the media started covering her Instagram popularity in September and even appeared on This Morning alongside her beloved ‘Minkeh’.
