‘A con to distract from partygate’ – Cummings rips apart Boris’s Ukraine plan
Boris Johnson’s former senior adviser Dominic Cummings has savaged his former boss during an afternoon of mudslinging on X, formerly Twitter, to go with his bombshell appearance on Dwarkesh Patel’s podcast.
Mr Cummings, who was at the heart of the Johnson government, branded the former PM a “clown” during a message about the UK’s Ukraine strategy – which he claimed was a “distraction” from the partygate scandal which mired his time in Number 10 Downing Street.
The 51-year-old took to the social platform to mock leading Westminster figures for backing Mr Johnson’s position on Ukraine when they had been critical of him over other issues.
He branded the conflict a “fiasco” that has “had to be disappeared from news”. Mimicking those that supported Mr Johnson’s forthright stance on the Ukraine war, Mr Cummings wrote: “Boris is a total clown … but trust his strategy on UKR [Ukraine], no it’s not a con to distract from parties [partygate], it’s great!”
The Durham-born political strategist added that almost “100%” of those weighing in to the issue of Channel crossings were equally vocal on the Russia-Ukraine war.

His brutal tirade comes amongst a sea of other attacks on the Conservative Party and current and former PM’s.
The Brexit mastermind joked that bookmakers should offer odds on Rishi Sunak relocating to California and being replaced by David Cameron.
He wrote: “There shd [sic] be odds on Sunak flying to Santa Monica & Cameron as PM for election 2024 [sic] A fitting final scene before the party is closed down”.
The strategist shot to political fame after his successful stint as director of the Vote Leave campaign. He was credited with the “take back control” slogan and was seen as one of the most influential figures behind Britain’s exit from the European Union.
This isn’t the first time Mr Cummings has hit out at Britain’s leading politicians. In private WhatsApp messages, exposed by the Covid Inquiry, the former adviser to Michael Gove branded Boris Johnson’s cabinet “useless f***pigs” and “feral”.

In an interview with Dwarkesh Patel, he was asked why Johnson’s Government “wasted” their 80-seat majority.
He replied by saying he felt Johnson “didn’t care” about the country and was only in his role as PM to “make friends” and “have a nice time”.
Mr Cummings said: “Boris was prepared to be very aggressive and revolutionary in 2019, fundamentally because he thought it was necessary to survive as prime minister, not for the country, which he didn’t care about, but for himself.”
