Braverman invites heckler up to join her on stage at tense awards ceremony
Suella Braverman has invited a heckler to join her on stage because she had “so much to say”.
The former Home Secretary was speaking at the Political Cartoon of the Year Awards when she was disrupted by a “persistent” audience member.
In a video posted online, Ms Braverman suggested that one cartoon characterised her “as the girls from the Exorcist”.
She told how one review described it as “disturbing in a very entertaining way.”
Ms Braverman added: “I’m not sure if that’s a compliment. I don’t think it is.”
One heckler can be heard shouting: “It’s not”.
Turning towards the audience member, the top Tory MP said: “Would you like to come up? You’ve got so much to say. Come on.”
A host of the event can be heard saying to Ms Braverman: “No, no keep going”.
The heckler does come on to the stage and says to the politician: “Hi, so nice to meet you”.
The host leaps on to the stage to stand between the pair saying “We’ll do the boxing match afterwards. Let Suella finish.”
As the heckler leaves the stage, she says: “Love you. Love your work.”
Ms Braverman then continued her speech.

It comes just weeks after the ex-Cabinet minister was sacked by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak after she defied No 10 over an article accusing the Metropolitan Police of bias in the policing of protests.
Mrs Braverman was accused of stoking tension ahead of protests in London.
James Cleverly is her replacement at the Home Office, with former prime minister David Cameron unexpectedly replacing him as foreign secretary.
This was the second time Mrs Braverman has been removed as home secretary. She was forced to resign from the role in Liz Truss’ government when it was revealed she had shared confidential cabinet papers with long-time ally Tory MP Sir John Hayes.
