Brexit Minister Lord David Frost is said to be poised for the debate as tensions ramp up with Ireland becoming increasingly desperate for the European Union to agree on a new deal around trade with the UK.

Staunch Brexiteer Lords are said to be urging Lord Frost to trigger Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol, a protective measure to give both parties a formal recourse of action if the agreement includes any unintended outcomes.
Lord Frost wants to overhaul parts of the Protocol in order to eliminate customs controls ordered by the EU, but Brussels insists the mechanism won’t be renegotiated.
