The House is expected to vote to impeach the president Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation was sponsored by Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Democrat and former Constitutional law professor who said the amendment was intended to be the &#8220;final mechanism for removing a president who is failing to meet the most basic duties of his office and indeed actually harming the Republic with his conduct.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TRUMP, PENCE MEET FOR 1ST TIME SINCE CAPITOL RIOT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pence penned a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that dashed Democrats\u2019 hopes that he would invoke the amendment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cf-images.us-east-1.prod.boltdns.net\/v1\/static\/694940094001\/676700e9-2160-4bb3-a8ea-16fc47cd468a\/849f19f1-aae0-4ebc-bd24-78bdb1acd69c\/1280x720\/match\/image.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The 25th Amendment allows the vice president and a majority of Cabinet to deem the president unfit for office.
