Fox News host Tucker Carlson claimed he didn\u2019t care at all about Oprah Winfrey\u2019s interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Then he spent a significant chunk of his show absolutely obsessing over some of the most minute details of the interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which aired Sunday on CBS.<\/p>\n
Carlson referred to Harry as \u201cPrince whatever his name is\u201d and Meghan Markle as \u201chis angry wife in Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n
He even began the segment with a graphic stating \u201cWe Have No Interest in the Royal Family\u201d as he called out \u201cother channels\u201d for \u201cgoing wall to wall\u201d with their coverage.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re natural fangirls with no self-respect, so of course they love the royals,\u201d he said. \u201cBut we\u2019re Americans, and the idea of bringing you the details of some dispute within a decayed monarchy is a little too much like European history class. Who cares?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
As it turns out, Carlson cares.<\/p>\n
He cares a lot, because he spent most of his opener on Prince Charles\u2019 son and his wife, then slammed Harry as \u201cweak and unhappy\u201d and Meghan as \u201ca manipulative opportunist.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Carlson\u2019s main segment on the royal interview was 9 minutes long.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Then he returned to the topic throughout the show, raising it with his guests multiple times.<\/p>\n
Progressive watchdog group Media Matters noted he spent 17 minutes on the topic he claimed he had no interest in. Mostly it was angry rants directed at Meghan, all while claiming he intended to \u201ctake a hard pass\u201d on the entire topic.\u00a0<\/p>\n
