The death toll has risen to four people, while 159 remain missing. As rescue efforts continue, the city of Surfside has released a number of documents about the building.<\/p>\n<p>Among those filings is a 2018 field survey report from Morabito Consultants, which found that the concrete structural slab underneath the building&#x27;s pool needed repairs.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Failure to replace the waterproofing in the near future will cause the extent of the concrete deterioration to expand exponentially,&quot; the report said.<\/p>\n<p>The firm recommended replacing the damaged slabs. It also found &quot;abundant cracking and spalling&quot; in the concrete columns, beams and walls of the parking garage.<\/p>\n<p>The report did not warn of any imminent danger, and it&#x27;s still unknown what caused the building&#x27;s collapse.
