London (CNN Business)<\/cite>Despite surging cases of the Delta variant of Covid-19 around the world, investors have largely been brushing off the risks, confident that vaccines will allow economic activity to return to normal. <\/p>\n

But that risk assessment may be changing.
\nWhat’s happening: Futures on the S&P 500<\/span> (INX<\/span>)<\/span>, Dow<\/span> (DJX<\/span>)<\/span> and Nasdaq Composite<\/span> (COMP<\/span>)<\/span> are all pointing to a weaker open, threatening to deepen Friday’s losses. Markets are also sliding in Europe, with London’s FTSE 100<\/span> (UKX<\/span>)<\/span> falling 2% and the Stoxx 600<\/span> (SXXL<\/span>)<\/span> down by a similar margin.<\/p>\n
