REUTERS\/Peter Nicholls<\/figcaption><p>LONDON (Reuters) -Britain said on Thursday it was pursuing data partnerships with countries including the United States, Australia, South Korea and other fast-growing markets to break down barriers and boost trade after Brexit.<\/p>\n<p>Data adequacy partnerships mean organisations would not have to implement costly compliance measures to share personal data internationally when doing business, the digital ministry said in a release.<\/p>\n<p>Britain completed its departure from the European Union\u2019s orbit at the end of 2020, giving the government the powers to strike trade agreements with other nations around the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt means reforming our own data laws so that they\u2019re based on common sense, not box-ticking,\u201d said digital minister Oliver Dowden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it means having the leadership in place at the Information Commissioner\u2019s Office to pursue a new era of data-driven growth and innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand Privacy Commissioner John Edwards has also been named as the government\u2019s preferred candidate to be the UK\u2019s next Information Commissioner.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/uk-britain-eu-data\/uk-pursuing-data-partnerships-with-u-s-and-others-idUSKBN2FR0HF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FILE PHOTO: Britain&#8217;s Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Oliver Dowden walks on Downing Street in London, Britain, July 14, 2021.
