{"id":126549,"date":"2022-04-09T20:50:08","date_gmt":"2022-04-09T20:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fin2me.com\/?p=126549"},"modified":"2022-04-09T20:50:08","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T20:50:08","slug":"are-sanctions-vs-russia-working","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fin2me.com\/business\/are-sanctions-vs-russia-working\/","title":{"rendered":"Are sanctions vs. Russia working?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><cite>New York (CNN)<\/cite>Russia and Belarus are restricted from accessing US-made software and technologies to aid in its military, the US Commerce Department issued in a final ruling Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Bureau of Industry and Security, an agency in the department, imposed &#8220;highly restrictive&#8221; license requirements on everything in the Commerce Control List, which includes almost all dual-use technology, software and commodities that could be used in Russia&#8217;s military and aerospace effort.<br \/>\n&#8220;These restrictions should continue to severely degrade Russia&#8217;s ability to sustain its aggression, as supported by Belarus,&#8221; the Commerce Department said in a statement.<\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p>The new restrictions follow Russia&#8217;s killing of civilians in Bucha, a suburb of Kyiv.<\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Russian troops discussed killing Ukrainian civilians in radio transmissions intercepted by Germany, source says\" class=\"media__image\" src=\"\/\/cdn.cnn.com\/cnnnext\/dam\/assets\/220405131332-02-bucha-ukraine-030422-large-169.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Vladimir Putin&#8217;s absolute disregard for the humanity of the people of Ukraine demonstrates why Russia&#8217;s military must be cut off from the high-tech commodities, software, and technologies that the U.S. and our allies and partners produce,&#8221; said Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration Thea D.
