Dominic Raab today hit back at claims he threw tomatoes across a table in a fit of rage. Mr Raab resigned from Rishi Sunak’s Cabinet this morning following the conclusion of a report by senior lawyer Adam Tolley KC into bullying allegations made against him.

It was previously claimed by an anonymous source that the Tory MP, who has always denied bullying allegations, threw tomatoes from a Pret A Manger salad at a meeting of Ministry of Justice staff last June.

But Mr Raab has now said the allegation was not put to him by Mr Tolley and “led to a Whitehall press officer being investigated for spreading misinformation”.

Writing in the Telegraph, the Esher and Walton MP said: “Despite these flaws, the investigator, Adam Tolley KC, concluded that, over four and a half years, I never once swore or shouted at officials, let alone threatened, targeted or threw anything at them.

“The claim I threw tomatoes was not even put to me and, separately, led to a Whitehall press officer being investigated for spreading misinformation.”

An insider claimed last November that Mr Raab erupted into a “tirade” in front of staff before hurling the tomatoes.

The source told The Sun: “Raab wasn’t happy with the way he was being briefed.

“He began a tirade, opened his Pret salad and threw three tomatoes out into a bag across the table making a loud noise.”

At the time, a spokesman for Mr Raab dismissed the claims as “complete nonsense”.
