Ministers are considering overhauling an EU directive to save businesses \u00a31billion a year and capitalise on Brexit freedoms. The EU Working Time Directive limits the amount of time most people work to 48 hours a week on average, including overtime.<\/p>\n
But the Department for Business and Trade is looking at removing the requirement on companies to record the number of hours staff members work, the Telegraph reports.<\/p>\n
A Government spokesperson said: \u201cThis Government has no intention of abandoning our strong record on workers\u2019 rights, which are amongst the highest in the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Retained EU Law Bill will make sure that the UK\u2019s rules and regulations best serve the interests of the country as a whole and support workers and businesses to build a thriving economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
