Home Secretary Suella Braverman is facing calls to resign over claims she asked civil servants to help arrange a private speed awareness course for her after being caught speeding last summer.<\/p>\n
The Conservative MP for Fareham has insisted that there was \u201cconfident that nothing untoward happened\u201d in the handling of the offence and said she regrets breaking the speed limit.<\/p>\n
She denied trying to \u201cevade\u201d punishment by asking civil servants to help arrange a private one-to-one driving awareness course. The row was <\/span>first reported by The Sunday Times<\/span> and a spokesman for Ms Braverman later said she regretted speeding and had accepted the points and paid the fine for the offence.<\/span><\/p>\n Some Tory MPs have called for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to order an investigation into Ms Braverman and urged for her to be sacked if found in breach of the ministerial rules.<\/span><\/p>\n Senior Tory MPs <\/span>told The Independent<\/span> that Ms Braverman had shown \u201cconstant poor judgement\u201d and \u201ca mistake too far\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/p>\n IF YOU CAN’T SEE THE POLL ABOVE, CLICK HERE<\/strong><\/p>\n The Prime Minister has spoken to both Ms Braverman and will consult with No 10 ethics adviser Sir Laurie Magnus on his return to the UK to gather \u201cmore information\u201d before deciding upon launching an investigation.<\/p>\n A Downing Street spokesman said that Mr Sunak wants to make sure a \u201cproper process\u201d is followed.<\/p>\n Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer said that despite Ms Braverman\u2019s actions being \u201cinappropriate\u201d he did not want to get \u201cahead of himself\u201d and call for her resignation.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cI think if she\u2019s breached the ministerial code she should go \u2026 in the end it\u2019s the ministerial code that matters.\u201d<\/p>\n So what do YOU think?
