The UK is braced to win a post-Brexit battle with Spain, as Jaguar Land Rover is finalising plans to host a multi-billion-pound electric car battery plant in Somerset.<\/p>\n
Britain was battling it out with the European nation to host the plant, which has been described as the most significant investment in the UK automotive industry since the 1980s.<\/p>\n
The boss of Jaguar Land Rover’s owner, Tata, is said to be flying to London next week to finalise the deal.<\/p>\n
The company’s chairman is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Rishi Sunak next week.<\/p>\n

Jaguar Land Rover was considering setting up an alternate site in Spain.<\/p>\n

The factory would be located at the Gravity business park, a 635-acre “smart campus” currently under construction in Puriton, Somerset. <\/p>\n
The high-tech factory is expected to be the largest single building in the UK and could bring as many as 9,000 direct jobs.<\/p>\n
Up to 40,000 jobs are expected to be created when indirect employment is included.<\/p>\n
