Spirit Airlines flight diverted to Denver after passenger attempted to open door in midair – The Denver Post

A Spirit Airlines flight from Cleveland to Los Angeles was diverted to Denver International Airport on Wednesday evening after a passenger attempted to open the emergency exit door while in the air, the airline said.

Flight 185 landed in Denver after the attempt to open the door, Spirit Airlines said in a statement, noting, however, that “opening a door inflight is impossible due to air pressure inside the cabin pinning the door against its frame with force stronger than any person could ever overcome.”

โ€œSafety is our number one priority at Spirit Airlines. Law enforcement met the aircraft in Denver and took the passenger into custody,โ€ the airline said in its statement. โ€œWe thank the crew members and Guests who assisted for handling this situation quickly prior to arrival.โ€

No one was hurt and the flight eventually made it to Los Angeles on Thursday, Fox 31 reported.
