DUP leader Arlene Foster was accused by Sinn Fein’s John O’Dowd that the unrest in Northern Ireland stems from the DUP’s support for a bad Brexit deal for the nation. While speaking on the Today Programme, Ms Foster failed to comment on this and insisted the people of Northern Ireland viewed Sinn Fein as the political elite. 

She continued to attack the party and accused its members of breaking coronavirus lockdown rules to attend a funeral.

However, Ms Foster was hit by a swift backlash as listeners took to Twitter to voice their frustration at the leader’s “arrogance”, attitude and blame-shifting at a difficult time for the country.
