Matt Hancock was grilled by Sky News’ Niall Paterson on whether the UK would see Britons requiring some verification they had received a vaccine before being able to access leisure services such as pubs, shops and restaurants after lockdown measures are lifted. The Health Secretary stated coronavirus vaccine certifications are under consideration for international travel but ruled out plans for the UK to introduce a “domestic passport.”
Host Niall Paterson asked: “Do I need a vaccine passport to go to the pub when they open?”
“We do not have plans to do that,” replied Mr Hancock.
“As I say there is this international work going on because if other countries require that we want to allow Brits to be able to travel to those countries.
“In the same that for parts of Sub-Sarahan Africa you need to have a yellow fever certificate.”
