In a speech during the Scottish Conservative party conference tomorrow, Mr Jack will criticise the SNP’s stance on Scottish independence. He will also attack the SNP Government for their negative stance towards the extra investment and help from the UK Government due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Latest surveys suggest support for the SNP is falling with the Tories in second place on 23 percent on the constituency vote and 24 percent on the regional vote.

A Savnata ComRes survey commissioned by the Daily Express earlier this week showed 51 percent of Scots were opposed to breaking away from the UK.

At the conference tomorrow, Mr Jack will say: “It is chilling with the monumental task of recuperating from a pandemic still ahead, supposedly serious politicians can spend even a moment contemplating the reckless folly of another referendum.

“Time and again, the SNP have told fairy stories while playing fast and loose with the rules, imperilling the very foundations of the devolution settlement.

“We have seen an arrogant Scottish Government, distracted by internal bickering, taking the public for fools.”

Mr Jack will also praise Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross stressing he holds the SNP to account during a time of argument between Nicola Sturgeon and former SNP leader Alex Salmond.

The Secretary of State for Scotland Alister Jack MP will also describe the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines in the United Kingdom as “a truly astonishing achievement.”

He added the rollout across the UK was a “task on a scale that dwarfs anything since the war.”

The Dumfries and Galloway MP will also praise the role of the Armed Forces and NHS staff for speed of vaccinations saying, “along with thousands of key workers and volunteers, they truly are the best of British.”

He added: “The United Kingdom has a COVID-19 vaccination programme that is the envy of the world.

“In Scotland, millions of doses of Valneva’s vaccine are rolling off the production line at a high-tech plant in Livingston, ready for approval.

“Key groups were prioritised for the first injections and now we are moving at such a pace that we hope every adult in the country will have received at least an initial dose of vaccine by late July.”

Taking aim at Scottish Finance Secretary Kate Forbes, Mr Jack will also highlight the importance of UK Government support for the economic recovery in Scotland.

Scotland: 'Independence party attracting SNP voters' says

He will say: “Throughout the pandemic, the Government’s overriding objective has been ‘saving lives and livelihoods’ and the time is now right to place increased emphasis on recovery from the pandemic.

“In all, the latest Budget supports Scotland to the tune of an additional £1.2 billion – that’s 1.2 billion of certainty; a 1.2 billion demonstration of the fiscal firepower of the UK Treasury and this Government’s copper-bottomed defence of the Union.

“Remarkably, Kate Forbes, SNP Cabinet Secretary for Finance, described over £1 billion in extra support dispatched from the Treasury to Holyrood as ‘dribs and drabs of finance’.

“Miss Forbes is multi-lingual, but only in SNP-speak does one billion translate as anything other than ‘serious money’.”

His speech will come just days after Mr Jack told the Express that any referendum held without Westminster’s permission will be challenged in court advising voters to “absolutely” boycott any such poll.

Boris Johnson will also address the Scottish Conservative party conference tomorrow with a firm stance on opposing independence.

The Prime Minister will also use his speech tomorrow to pledge that the UK Government would fight “tooth and nail” to prevent Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP from getting a Scottish independence referendum.

He will say Scotland is better off as part of a strong United Kingdom as the Daily Express continues it’s Unite Kingdom campaign in the run-up to the Scottish elections.

Outgoing Conservative MSP and former Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson had insisted yesterday the SNP winning an overall majority’s in May’s Scottish Parliament election was no longer the “‘nailed-on’ near-certainty” that polls had once predicted.

The SNP has been approached for comment.
