Boris Johnson set to hit back at doubters in dramatic two-day showdown

Dominic Cummings blasts Cabinet members as ‘useless f***pigs’

Boris Johnson is set to appear before the UK COVID-19 Inquiry today for the first of two days of questioning over his handling of the pandemic.

The former Prime Minister is expected to admit his government made mistakes in its response to the crisis.

But Mr Johnson, who left No 10 last year, will insist its decisions ultimately saved lives.

His spokesman said: “Boris Johnson will be at the Covid inquiry and looks forward to assisting the inquiry with its important work.”

His grilling at the inquiry comes after high-profile appearances from other key figures including his ex-chief adviser Dominic Cummings and former health secretary Matt Hancock.
